A scenario:

Johnny goes to school, its 5 degrees Fahrenheit out. His

coat is thin, ripped, and stained. His feet are cold. The bell

rings for the children to come in to their school day. Johnny,

being cold, is to busy concentrating on warming up. He misses half of the teacher’s instructions for the morning.

Later that day, Johnny’s parents received a call from Coats for Kids. Coats for Kids asked his parents if they needed help purchasing warm winter outerwear; tears roll down their faces as mom and dad have been out of work for 3 months. They feel relief when they came in to Coats for Kids office and filled out the short application.

Coats for Kids was started by The Kalispell Jaycees 31 years ago to help underprivileged children receive warm winter clothing. The first year we helped 17 families. To date, we have helped over 3400 families throughout the Flathead Valley receive new warm winter outerwear.

There are 90,000+ people in the Flathead Valley. Of these people, 23.6% (21,240) are under the age of 18. The unemployment rate is currently at 8.4% (April 2013). 12,000+ of our residents are below poverty level. Unfortunately, many of these are children.  (Census 2010)

Herbergers, Snappy Sport Senter, and Sportsman Ski Haus are just some of the stores that give us a generous discount, allowing us to stretch donations further.

Last year we helped over 200 children.

Without the outstanding support of local businesses and residents we would not be able to keep the children warm in the Flathead Valley.

We hire local people to do the fundraising. We DO NOT hire ANY type of firm to do it for us; ALL of the money stays here providing local jobs for local people.

We appreciate any type of donation, whether it is of monetary value, volunteering, or In-Kind donations for our silent auction. All donations are tax deductible. To keep updated, follow us on Facebook. “Coats for Kids Inc”

All monetary donations can be mailed to the address below.

Thank You,
