Bigfork becomes Jurassic Park for a day


Bigfork is host to a fun and interesting day about dinosaurs

that will feature Montana's own renowned paleontologist, Jack Horner. Mr. Horner will be the presenter and host three dinosaur events at various venues in Bigfork, Montana on Saturday, March 11. 1. Dinosaur Talk Q & A. Presented by Jack Horner. 10AM at United Community Methodist Church, Commerce St., Bigfork. Free Admission. 2. Dinosaur Artwork/Make your own dinosaur. Have Jack Horner identify your rocks and bones! Make your own dinosaur 1PM-3PM at Bigfork Art and Cultural Center. Free Admission. 3. Watch "Jurrasic Park" 1993 Blockbuster film. 3PM at Bigfork Center for the Performing Arts. Donation $10/Adults, $5/Children 12 and under. Introduction by Jack Horner and Film Producer Jerry Molen. For more information: Call 406-837-6927 info@bigforkculture.org Jack Horner is a native son and was born and raised in Shelby, Montana. He found his first dinosaur bone and the age of eight. Despite severe dyslexia, he has received many accolades and has accomplished much throughout his 70 years.

Horner has published more than 100 professional papers, eight popular books including Dinosaurs Under the Big Sky;[11] a children's book, Maia: A Dinosaur Grows Up;[12] a non-fiction book on dinosaurs from Montana, Dinosaur Lives;[13] and numerous published articles. He was also a part of the 2005 discovery of soft tissue inside of a T. rex fossil.

Currently, he is the Curator of Paleontology at the Museum of the Rockies, the Regent's Professor of Paleontology, adjunct curator at the National Museum of Natural History, and teaches with the Honors Program at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana.

Horner was awarded an honorary doctorate by Pennsylvania State University in 2006 in recognition of his work.
