Thorsen wins Best of Show

Bronze sculptor Eric Thorsen, of Bigfork, recently journeyed to Sioux Falls, S.D. to place a sculpture along the city street.

Thorsen traveled with his wife, Cyndy, and daughters Gabrielle, 10, and Madelaine, 6, to Sioux Falls after his life-size bronze sculpture “Sitting Panther” was accepted.

Thorsen assisted installing the sculpture on Saturday, May 6 with more than 50 other sculptures of various media, and size.

A team of fellow artists judged the sculptures and Thorsen received one of 12 awards.

This sculpture is special to Thorsen because his daughters assisted him in sculpting the tail of the cat after he was informed the tail was too long for any of the boulder pedestals.

All three sculptors signed the sculpture tail. (Courtesy photos)
