Medicare 101 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Bigfork Community Center; by the Agency on Aging. Are you, spouse or parents nearing the age to receive Medicare? Take advantage of this useful, up-to-date information – the process of applying need not be over-complicated.

Monthly potluck

Sept. 14 - We invite all community seniors to attend our Second Thursday of the month potluck dinners at noon – every Month at your Bigfork community center – socialize and keep in touch with your friends.

Monthly, Weekly Activities 1. Hot lunch: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at noon – all seniors age 60 and over. Donations are requested to defray the cost of meals $4 ($6 - non seniors). Come and have lunch with us. Donations for meals: Seniors $4, others $6 See Menu later in newsletter. 2. Meals on Wheels program with deliveries to home available to seniors who are homebound. Call for information 837-4157. 3. Monthly potluck lunches at noon the second Thursday of each month followed by a general members meeting.

Care Givers Support Group Open to the public Meets first Wednesday and some third Wednesdays each month at 1 p.m., Center dining room. Call JoLynn at 756-8992 for more information.

Guest Speaker Jane Emmert, Director of ASSIST; Neighbors Helping Neighbors, affiliated with Kalispell Regional Healthcare. She spoke Wednesday, Sept. 6 about connecting people to the resources necessary to regain their health and independence.

Governor’s Conference On Aging Was held Sept. 7 and 8 at Kalispell’s Red Lion Hotel. Lots and lots of information on aging. under “Governor’s Conference on Aging”.

Knitting Group Meets Open to the public A knitting group is continuing to meet Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Anyone interested is invited to join in the group. Knitting lessons are available and beginners, experienced, and other fiber crafters are encouraged to attend. Mind & Body Exercise New Location For Qi Gong And Tai Chi WHERE – Community United Methodist Church – (one block east of Bigfork High School) – please use basement–alley entrance on west side of building Instructor – Adele Zimmerman 755-4905 or Monthly fee is $5. Sponsored by: Bigfork Association of Senior Citizens. All levels – beginners and experienced, All ages – sitting positions accepted. Wear loose comfortable clothing, including indoor footwear. From Harvard Health Letter: TAI CHI – A gentle exercise that may help heal your heart. The slow, flowing movements are never forced, and your muscles remain relaxed rather than tensed. You don’t have to get on the floor. The sequence of movements can be done standing or while seated in a chair.

Lunches We will continue on our regular schedule of congregate meals – Monday, Wednesday, and Friday every week.

COMING IN OCTOBER – NEW Diabetic support group.

Individuals with Type II diabetes, pre-diabetics and families living with diabetics are encouraged to attend a six week series of classes. The group size will be limited. Call JoLynn at 756-8992 or the Community Center at 837-4157 for more information. The emphasis is “Wellness Through Education.”
