Culture Center goes to the birds

Year of the Bird Exhibition On View: April 24 – May 25 Artist Reception: Friday, April 27, 5-6:30 pm

BACC is presenting the Year of the Bird exhibition from April 24 – May 25. The Audubon and National Geographic Society have joined with more than 100 organizations to examine how our changing environment is impacting birds around the globe and have designated 2018 as the Year of the Bird. BACC is joining in this effort to bring awareness to the plight of birds by presenting an art exhibition with a full complement of educational programs and events including talks, walks, and hands-on arts activities.

Exhibition Sponsors include Flathead Electric Cooperative, Andrea Goff in Memory of Marie & Bob Dix, and Susan and Jim Kuhlman.

“If you take care of the birds, you take care of most of the big problems in the world.” This famous quote by professor, biologist, and renowned Godfather of Biodiversity, Dr. Thomas Lovejoy, helped inspire the launch of 2018 as The Year of the Bird. 2018 also marks the centennial of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act that protects more than 1,025 bird species.

BACC has invited some of Montana’s finest artists to participate in the exhibition. Artists to date include: Wendy Anderson, Annie Allen, Linda Christensen, Pamm Ciupa, Janie Dryden, Claire Emery, Viki Edwards, Ed Gillenwater, Andrea Goff, Jill Gotschalk, Lael Gray, Bobbi Hafer, Sally Johnson, Malissa Kelly Eric Kottmann, Sharon Lamar, Debra Pollard, Lee Proctor, Lisa Schaus, Barb Shrider, Robin Sorg, and Eric Thorsen.
