Volunteers of the Month

St. Patrick’s Day Dinner Raffle Organizers Meredith Fulton and Fiona D’Agostino.

Meredith’s story I moved here from Bethesda, Maryland in June of 2011 with my husband, Fred. I am retired from teaching Spanish, French and English as a foreign language for 32 years. We were looking for a home in a caring community where we could make a difference and really know our neighbors. I enjoy working on events and being creative in bringing fun into people’s lives. Volunteering offers the opportunity for that as well as expanding our circle of friends further in the community. Fun and laughter are an essential element of my life and what I strive to share with others. The West Shore is a rewarding place to do that, and there could not be a more beautiful place to live.

Fiona’s story My husband Doug and I moved here just shy of 2 years ago after buying a home in Somers in 2015. Coming from the East Coast (Annapolis, MD) we have always dreamed of living out West since we love nature and the great outdoors, from skiing and snow shoeing to hiking and kayaking. Since moving here, I have gotten involved in different volunteer groups. I love to read books and the West Shore Library is such a nice local library to go to. As a volunteer for the Library I have been involved in the St. Patrick’s Day fundraising event which was a lot of fun. I am so impressed by the how giving our community is to such worthy causes. Through volunteering I have made numerous new friends that I greatly cherish and I look forward to helping the Library in various capacities.
